Elementary & Middle School Curriculum

Building Strong Foundations

At The Hallen School, our elementary and middle school programs are carefully designed to foster academic growth, social development, and emotional resilience. Through small class sizes and a nurturing environment, we help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Elementary School

(Grades K-7)

In our elementary school classrooms, students benefit from:

8:1:1 Classroom Ratio: Ensures individualized attention and support.

Focus on Foundational Skills: Emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning.

Integrated Therapy Services: Speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy embedded into daily instruction.

Our goal is to create a strong foundation in academics while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

(Grades 7-8)

As students transition to middle school, we shift the focus toward independence and preparation for high school:

12:1:1 Classroom Ratio: Balanced support for growing independence.

Skill Development: Critical thinking, self-advocacy, and teamwork.

Curriculum Aligned with State Standards: Adhering to the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.

Through personalized instruction and collaboration with parents, our middle school students gain the tools they need to thrive academically and socially.

Structured Teaching

For students with autism, we implement Structured Teaching strategies, including:

8:1:2 Classroom Ratio: Grades K-8

Visual schedules and structured workstations.

Clear boundaries for individual and group activities.

Sensory-friendly adaptations to meet students’ unique needs.

Teachers, therapists, and families work together to provide a consistent and supportive learning experience, ensuring success both in and out of the classroom.
