High School Curriculum & Transition Programs
Preparing Students For The Future
Our high school programs are designed to help students take the next steps toward independence, whether that includes college, vocational training, or transitioning to the workforce. Through individualized learning plans, internships, and community-based experiences, we ensure every student is ready for life after graduation.
Regents High School Program
The Hallen School offers a Regents program with 12:1:1 and 12:1:2 Classroom Ratios, providing students with the opportunity to earn both a diploma and a Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Credential.
Regents Coursework Includes:
- Algebra I
- Geometry
- Living Environment
- Global History and Geography II
- U.S. History and Government
- 11th Grade English
Students complete 216 hours of internships and work-based learning to meet the requirements for the CDOS credential, preparing them for meaningful employment and further education.


Supportive Work Programs
For students with New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) designations, the Supportive Work Program focuses on developing academic, vocational, and life skills.
Highlights Include:
12:1:1 and 12:1:2 Classroom Ratios
IEP-aligned instruction in reading, writing, and math.
Transition and vocational goals to support independence.
Community-Based Job Sites: Hands-on experience in real-world settings to earn hours toward the CDOS Credential or the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential.
Structured Teaching In High School
Students on the autism spectrum continue to benefit from structured teaching methods, including:
Visual schedules to support transitions.
Designated workstations for independent and group activities.
Focus on vocational skills and daily living tasks.
Our classrooms provide a supportive environment that balances academic learning with preparation for life beyond school.


Extended School Year & Enrichment Opportunities
The Hallen School offers an Extended School Year (ESY) program to help students maintain and enhance their skills during the summer months.
Six-Week Summer Enrichment Program Highlights:
Academic reinforcement in core subjects.
Opportunities for social engagement and creative exploration.
Continuity of therapeutic services for consistent progress.
Enrichment courses available during the school year include:

- Music Technology
- Cosmetology
- Computer Science
- Family and Consumer Science
- Wood Shop
